Education changes lives
Education is the main focus of this project, because it will change a child's future and help to end the intergenerational cycle of poverty in this community of underprivileged families. Education improves the quality of life directly and increases a person’s ability to earn an income. The more inclusive the reach of education, the more likely it is that even the poorest would have a better chance of overcoming poverty.
This project provides the basic opportunity of education in two ways:
• Sending children of disadvantaged families to the local school in Pushkar we partnered up with
• Providing educational after school programs in the Blue House Project
Sponsoring a child's education
We currently sponsor the education of 40 children of disadvantaged families living in tents in the desert of Pushkar. All our 40 students are sponsored by people from all over the world and thanks to them, their lives will be changed forever. Sending one child to school costs €120; this includes schoolfee for one year (€90), uniforms, books, schoolbags and a lunchbox (€30).
Many of the children living on the camp still lack of education, depriving them of a childhood and an important aspect of that life stage. We strive to remove more children of the streets and give them a chance in this world. To sponsor a child's education, click here or email for more information.
Volunteers who are willing to share their knowledge and skills are more than welcome to visit the project! Sign up for more information here.
Kids aged 3-5
We send our youngest students to the Javahar Public School. After school, they are tutored by our teacher Saray.
After school program in the Blue House
In our Blue House, the school children are tutored, eat lunch,
shower and play after school. Six days a week, our two teachers Saray and Ranginee are tutoring the children. Most of our schoolchildren were lacking basic knowledge before they started school in 2018. Therefore, they need extra tuition and attention to increase their level of knowledge and skills. The children are tutored in different groups, based on age and level of knowledge:
- children aged 3-6
- children aged 7-14
- teenagers aged 14+.
Another important target group that we focus on is the often forgotten generation of teenagers. The generation of teenagers did not have the chance to go to school, growing up on the streets. Without our intervention, they will end up married at age 14, lacking of basic knowledge and thus the opportunity to escape the intergenerational cycle of poverty and unemployment. In june 2019, we have started the Teen Tuition program. We hired a teacher who tutors the teenagers six days a week. The teacher is preparing the teenagers so they can attempt the 5th, 8th and 10th class board exams. If they teenagers pass these exams, they will get an official school diploma.
